Old Shoreham Toll Bridge

The crossing between Old Shoreham and Lancing (across the Adur) was intitially made by flat bottomed barge.

In 1781, a bridge was built (for which tolls were charged).

A new railway bridge was built to the south in 1847 (and remains today).

The old toll bridge was closed to vehicular traffic in 1967.
