Shipley is part of a very Norman parish, featuring the ruins of Knepp Castle and St Mary the Virgin Parish Church
Shipley is the adopted home of the French author, politician and rambler Hilaire Belloc
Here you will find Kings Mill, located to the side of Belloc's Sussex Home (the place he loved)
The 12th Century, simple Church was built by the Knights Templar. It has a central tower and it's proportions are huge.
Internally, the church is tall and wide (partly due to the added 19th century North Aisle).
