Cowdray Ruins are those of an early Tudor English House.

This is not the first building on the site, an early one was located towards the front of the building (and is no longer visible).

The current building is one of several stages. It is not a fortress-it is a stately home. 

​

The house has been derelict since the 18th century (when it was destroyed by fire) but you can still walk around the ruins today.

Due to safety issues, the house is surrounded by Hera fencing. It is not accessible internally but guided tours are available-where they walk you inside the Hera fencing and tell the tale of this great old building
